Dr. Frederick Greene

Frederick L. Greene, MD, FACS [BA(English) and MD at the University of Virginia and surgical residency at Yale] was chief of surgical oncology at the University of South Carolina from 1980-97 and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC from 1997-2012. Currently, he serves as Medical Director of Cancer Data Services at the Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte. Dr. Greene is past-chair of both the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer (CoC) and American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) and has served on the editorial board of the 6th, 7th and 8th Editions of the AJCC staging manual. He served as a CoC site-reviewer for over 25 years. Dr. Greene is also the host of the Society of Surgical Oncology podcast series, “Speaking of SurgOnc”, the podcast “Cancer Registry World” and the “Surgical Readings“ podcast produced by the American College of Surgeons.
